Sasha, my elder daughter, asked me to download the video. She learned about the video through a classroom activity, but I have no idea what it is. Out of frustration, she showed me the other kids in our neighborhood doing the Baby Shark dance. 😆
To answer the question above, here is the viral video.
Apparently, the tune is fun and upbeat, the lyrics are simple and easy to remember, and the steps are so easy even Adele can do them. The dance is infectious!
Aside from being a good way to keep our kids occupied while we are doing household chores! 😛
Based on its video description on YouTube,
Let’s try making sharks using hands and arms!
Use your fingers to make little Baby Shark!
Open your hands to make Mommy Shark!
Spread your arms wide to make Daddy Shark!
Let’s not forget Grandma and Grandpa Shark!
Doo doo doo doo doo doo!
And the Baby Shark lyrics go like this,
Baby shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Baby shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Baby shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Baby shark!
Mommy shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Mommy shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Mommy shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Mommy shark!
Daddy shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Daddy shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Daddy shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Daddy shark!
Grandma shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Grandma shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Grandma shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Grandma shark!
Grandpa shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Grandpa shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Grandpa shark, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Grandpa shark!
Let’s go hunt, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Let’s go hunt, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Let’s go hunt, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Let’s go hunt!
Run away, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Run away, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Run away, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Run away!
Safe at last, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Safe at last, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Safe at last, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
Safe at last!
It’s the end, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
It’s the end, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
It’s the end, doo doo doo doo doo doo.
It’s the end!
The said video inspires the #BabySharkChallenge. The challenge, which started in August, is basically a cover video of Baby Shark.
According to its creators, no intentional marketing is spearheaded for the series as well as the challenge, but it went viral nonetheless thanks to the support of celebrities.
Its fame is attributed to Amanda Cerny, a model and Internet sensation, who took the challenge and performed the dance on Indonesia’s Tonight Show as well as other Korean celebrities like Girls’ Generation, Red Velvet and Blank Pink who performed the song on TV and at their concerts.
Who created Baby Shark anyway?
Produced by SmartStudy which introduced the educational brand Pinkfong (with a cute pink fox mascot of its own), Baby Shark is an action song that aims to “help children develop fine motor skills” while having fun.
Pinkfong, a Seoul-based startup with offices in Shanghai and Los Angeles, was established to develop animated content that provides fun learning experiences to children worldwide.
The Baby Shark series was launched in the last quarter of 2015 and started going viral by July 2017. The actual Baby Shark video (shown above) was released online on June 17, 2017.

And now, the Philippines! Marian Rivera and the girls of ‘Super Ma’am’ has a cute video of them doing the Baby Shark.
Baby Shark has an alternative video called Monkey Bananas. Yup, you guessed it right. It stars our banana-eating friends. You can watch the video below. Instead of “doo doo doo doo doo doo,” replace it with “ba na na na na.”
